Water sports can lead to triathlons
If you excel at water sports, then give entering a triathlon a thought. Professional
swim and water training can play a key part in your success in competing in a
triathlon. That’s because most people in a triathlon come as runners, not as swimmers. You’ve probably already figured out what your best stroke
in the sport is, have built up your endurance and perfected your technique in
the water.
For most people, swimming in the water is the hardest part of the competition
To train for a triathlon, you’ll need to incorporate running and cycling into your
swimming training schedule. You’re probably in good shape since you’ve coming to a triathlon as a swimmer. However, you’ll need to buy the right equipment for the running and biking components: shoes, running clothes, bike, helmet, and cycling clothes. Check to make sure all your swim equipment is in good shape, too.
Also, if swimmers have never swum in the open water before, they’re in for a shock. Swimmers need to take their swim sessions out to open water and get used to moving straight without having a red line keeping them in place. Without this experience, swimmers tend to go all over the place come race time. Swim
equipment from such companies like Speedo and Nike will help in the Ironman too.
As hard as triathlon training will be for you, don’t let it get to you. You’ve got to tell yourself that you’re going to blow the rest of the swimmers away in the first event.
