Swimming Suits for Triathletes Face Special Challenges

Swimming Suits can make all the difference in whether you’ll be able to finish the Triathlon or not. Why? Because in a shorter race, you don’t have time to change. You’ve got to keep your swim suit on. If you wear the wrong kind, it can be disastrous for you.

Find a swim suit that will keep you dry when you need it

Men don’t have to worry much about styles. A swim trunk is a swim trunk, right? But remember that you’ll be cycling and running in the same trunks. So you want something that will dry fast and that won’t chafe. If your suit retains water, you’re going to find blisters on your feet by the five mile mark. If you’re going to be swimming in cold water, consider getting a wet suit of some kind. Now in case you’re wondering, yes, you do take the wet suit off before you get on your bike.

Ultimately, what works for you is a personal choice. Have some practice sessions in your swim suits to see how they hold up.

Nike and Speedo makes swim suits especially for the triathlete. Quick drying and non-chafing. They make women’s suits with more support built in for the running that comes after.
