One thing you hear over and over again about runners who successfully finish a marathon is that it was all mental. They basically willed their bodies to run the 26.2 miles.

When you get injured, make sure you use RICE to treat your sports injury. R is for Rest. I is for Ice. C is for Compression, and E is for Elevation.
