Ironstar Triathlon held in Del Lago, TX

In Del Lago, Tx, Outloud! Productions will be hosting the third Ironstar Triathlon in south east Texas in October 2005. This is a USA Triathlon sanctioned triathlon which means it might qualify triathletes to run in an Ironman length triathlon later. The Ironstar is a half-Ironman triathlon also known as a tin-man. The triathlon course includes a 1.2 mile open water swim in Lake Conroe, then a 59 mile bike course (circular) and finally a 13.1 mile run on asphalt and paved roads.

Half-Ironman good training for an Ultra Race

Triathletes registering early will only need to pay $105 if they apply before June 1, That will save $45 over the $150 that they’ll need to pay if they’re late, signing up after September 1. Make sure you’re a USA Triathlon member or be prepared to pay an additional fee of $9 for a one day membership.

Outloud! Productions recommend that competing triathletes stay at the resort on Del Lago. They offer suite rooms for $120 a night. You can save money on a 2 bedroom cottage ($169 a night) if you split it with a friend.

Triathletes may want to get hooked up with a couple of local sports clubs that will host practice runs for the Iron star. Lonestar Multisport club and the Houston Racing Triathlon club both offer training events for the Ironstar.
