Cycling Training – get out of the garbage
When Cycling Training, one thing you’ve got to be vigilant about is not
putting in garbage miles. This is training at mediocrity.
Triathlon Training with a club helps
Why is this a problem for Triathlon training? If you train at the
level that you’re used to already, you don’t push your muscle to develop any.
Let’s take an analogy from the weight lifting world. If you were to bench press
the same weight day-in and day-out, you’ll find that your muscles might get a
little bit stronger but overall, it’s a lot like walking. If you push yourself
with added weights the next time you train, you’ll find another result. Because
you pushed your muscles past what they were able to do, they end up developing
themselves in response to your training tasks.
Take that analogy to your bike training and you’ll see that if you’re coasting
through your training (pun intended), then you’re not doing yourself any favors.
How to get out of the humdrums? You’ve got to find yourself a very
competitive cycling buddy or a whole club of them.
Your bike club will help you stay motivated to push yourself; you can bike
different courses, all the while with some worthy competition to keep you on
your toes.
By the way, you should make bicycle repair part of your training. Make sure you
know how to change a tire and learn how to do it fast.
