Competitive Swimming Background Big Plus

If you are experienced with competitive swimming, why not consider a Triathlon? Most people see runners as the primary origination of triathletes but it doesn’t have to be that way. If you are a strong swimmer, you should consider cross-training for triathlons. Most triathletes will admit that the swim event is their worse event; many just hoping to finish.

Triathlon attracting more crossovers from the swimming and biking worlds

If you have found yourself in a swimming training rut, consider getting out of it by training for triathlons. Make sure you approach training for the run events and the bike events with the same professionalism that you did in your swimming. Proper technique will go a long ways towards reducing fatigue, improving your time, and reducing the chances of injury.

You’re going to need more equipment than you did before when you were just swimming. For running you’ll need running shoes and apparel. For biking, you’ll need a bike and helmet. You’ll be sweating a lot more on the run so make sure you update your hydration system as well. Camelbacks are a great way to keep the liquids flowing.

There are benefits of competing in a multi-sport competition that you may not have considered before. The extra training will help strengthen your muscles. The cross-training will enhance your cardiovascular system. So don’t limit yourself to swimming; you’ll find that the cross training for triathlons will really benefit your swim performance as well.
