Chicago Triathlon offers triathletes of all levels something to do
The Chicago Triathlon is one of the largest organized triathlons we have in
America. For triathletes new to triathlons, this is a wonderful place to get
started because there are so many choices for you here. The
triathlon in Chicago is now in its 23rd year. In
2004, 9,000 triathletes registered for the triathlon. If you’re looking for an
Ironman competition, you’re going to have to look somewhere else.
Chicago offers young kids a chance to call themselves a triathlete
There are actually six different triathlons at the Accenture Chicago
Triathlon:
• Sprint Distance
• International Distance
• Relay Team Competition in the International Distance Only
• Team Clydesdale Triple Crown in the International Distance Only
• Feet Fleet Sports SuperSprint for beginners
• McDonalds Kids Triathlon for kids ages 7-10
• McDonalds Kids Triathlon for kids ages 11-14
The SuperSprint is limited to 1,000 triathletes. It’s great for beginners
because it includes a 375M swim, 10k bike and then a 2.5k run. That’s about .23
miles to swim, 6.2 miles to bike and then 1.5 miles to run.
More than 800 kids ages 7 to 14 will compete in the McDonalds Kids Triathlon!
Kids ages 7-10 will swim 100 meters, bike 4k and then run 1k. Kids 11-14 will
have twice as long a triathlon. They will swim for 200 meters, bike 8 k and then
run 2k.
