Nike cycling shoes backed by Lance
Why buy a pair of Nike cycling shoes? You don’t want to wear a pair of
regular running shoes during the cycle event because the same way that running
shoes will absorb shock when you run, they’ll absorb too much of your energy
when you cycle. You need cycling shoes which have stiffer flatter bottoms so
that as much energy from your pedal stroke gets transferred to the bicycle.
Triathlon athletes need to understand shoes for bicycles
Cycling shoes have had many evolutions over the
last 25 years. The big thing now with cycling shoes are a clipless pedal system
that uses ski technology to ratchet the shoes into place. You release your shoes
with a twisting action. If you’re competing in an Ironman, you need to go ahead
and get the best shoe for your cycle split. That’s because for longer races, you
will find that everything will average out in the wash.
Make sure you consider getting a shoe designed specifically for triathlons if
you’re going to be in a shorter length race. That’s because a
triathlon shoe may have fewer straps for you to use
to get them on when you’re running from your swim to cycle event.
Another way to go is with a shoe/pedal combination where you’re supposed to wear
the same pair of shoes in both the cycle and run splits. These are best to be
considered for shorter Olympic (sprint) or International length triathlons.
These types of shoes go back to a pedal with a “cage” in it to keep the running
shoe on. The pedal has a hard bottom that spreads out and is meant to take up
any energy normally dissipated by your running shoes.
