For many, running the Ironman Florida is one step closer for their goal of

Triathlon held in Florida in November
If you want to participate in the Ironman in Florida, you’ll need to plan
ahead. The 2005 Ironman Triathlon sold out in less
than 9 hours on the first day of registration.
People that miss out on the general entry spots have two other ways they might
be able to still get in. They’ll need to qualify at a designated qualifier or
purchase a limited Community Fund spot. A Community Fund spot is one that costs
more, with the funds distributed to local charities. Community Fund spots for
the 2005 Ironman in Florida cost $1,000. Often times triathletes can get their
companies to sponsor them with a community fund spot.
You can also try to get a qualifying spot by running
in a qualifying race and winning one of the top spots. Most qualifying races are
half-Ironman's. The Ironman in Florida isn’t scheduled until November 2005, so
you may have time to qualify in a half-Ironman.
Charities are real excited about how the 2005 registration is sold out already.
In 2004, the event raised over $600,000 for charity through the Janus Charity
Challenge. That $600,000 was just a fraction of the total 3.3 million dollars
that the Janus Charity Challenge via all the Ironman events that occurred in
2004.
